News from Inside-Out
Mon 30th Aug 2010 What a great weekend, Friday at The Prince of Wales in Steeple Claydon and it was really good to see some familiar faces come to support us, especially Des and Phil, thanks guys and see you all at the Mini Phoenixbury on Sat 11th Sept. We were at The Gaydon Inn on Saturday which is a great pub with a friendly atmosphere that is always a pleasure to play in. A special thanks to Holly & Co for coming to see us, hopefully you were suitably entertained by Tom and his new wireless set up. On to Sunday afternoon and The Shakespeare in Bicester, we set up in the garden just in time for a heavy shower to leave us stranded under the gazebo for 20 minutes, but once the rain had passed the sun came out and the pub filled up. We had a lot of encouraging feedback from a variety of people and look forward to playing there again soon.
Now for a week off to relax and enjoy the summer weather (Hopefully!), then back to learning some more new songs.
Weds 25th Aug 2010
We arrived at the Kings Head in Buckingham mid-downpour on Fri 20th, fortunately the evening then remained dry enough for a busy crowd to support us, with several familiar faces to be seen. Despite an injured finger Jon's drumming didn't appear to be affected, much! The wet weather theme continued into Saturday but didn’t dampen the atmosphere at the Annual Chacombe Beer Festival (Most were quite wet from the inside already!). Attendance was down a bit due to the Middleton Music Festival, but a reasonable turn out made for a very friendly evening, alternating sets with our friends from Holly Perkins & Co.
Sunday was the event we had been looking forward to for ages, with the recent wet weather we were so pleased that the day turned out to be a lovely hot summers day. Also on the line up were two other bands from Brackley who were often can be seen out and about with, Acoustic Journey and Certified. As you can see from the pictures it was a very well attended event and many supported the live music throughout the day as well as the bikes and other entertainment.
So, one busy weekend passes and another one approaches, we love this job!!
Mon 16th August 2010 Our first set at the George & Dragon was a bit quiet on Friday, probably due to the Fairport festival just round the corner, but those that did come provided plenty of support until the pub filled out more for the second set. We even tried a new number as an encore which went well, but only after Slack Bladder Tom had taken a short break!! This is a great music venue and we look forward to supporting them again on Saturday for the Chacombe Beer Festival. Also next week we play the Kings Head in Buckingham on Friday and Sunday we are the closing band at the Brackley Festival of Motorcycling, let's just hope the weather turns out good for the weekend. Mon 9th August 2010 The band made the most of the short break from gigging, Tom was collared into some home decorating, Scott spent the week buzzing around on his bike and Jon went to Shetland on a scuba diving trip. Tom and Scott were impressed with “The Fury” at the Red Lion on Sat 7th August, a very accomplished young band who are also playing at the Brackley Bike Festival in a couple of weeks. On Sunday 8th and we provided the evening entertainment for the Annual Fun Day and BBQ at the Loco. There was plenty of top quality heckling from the usual suspects and “Turn it down Dave” was called into action as the evening progressed. A fun evening enjoyed by all, oh by the way, what did you do with those women’s pants Scott????
Sun 25th July 2010 There were thousands of people in Brackley Market Place yesterday for the annual Brackley Beer Festival, which was certainly our biggest crowd to entertain so far. A well organised event, plenty of beer and food and an appreciative local audience really helped make this a great afternoon for us. It always makes for a better performance when the crowd get into it and yesterday couldn't have been better, this is what it's all about, cheers folks.
Mon 19th July 2010 We are pleased to welcome Bob as our new band member, he has already been busy doing some advertising, check out the pics.
Sun 18th July 2010 Sometimes from an unfortunate situation an opportunity arises, so we were really pleased to be able to play at Matt's 40th party at the Phoenix last night. Great biker crowd, fantastic stage and sound set up, Cheers again guys. Glad we could enjoy the evening with you. The Phoenix Rocks!!
Brackley Beer Festival next Sat, should be a top day, come and sample a variety of beers (And music!!).
Weds 07th July 2010 The Phoenixbury festival turned out to be a very successful 3 day event, good weather, great music, appreciative audience and money raised for a very worthwhile cause. We were delighted to be asked to help with this event and thoroughly enjoyed our session on the late Sunday afternoon. Thanks to all those that came and chatted afterwards and all the good feedback we had, cheers.
Fri 25th June 2010 The Dolphin in Middleton Cheney is quite an amazing pub, themed around Jack Daniels it is full of memorabilia including in the car park a black cab with the JD decal. It was a reasonably busy night and we were very well received, so much so that we were kindly asked to do an additional third set. We were happy to oblige and were accompanied by dancing, a JD inflatable guitar and of course a vuvuzela made an appearance. A really top night and we look forward to playing there again soon.
Sat 26th June 2010 We were invited to play at a good friends leaving party as he goes on a 6 month tour of the States. Plenty turned up to enjoy a wonderful pig roast and liquid refreshments whilst we played 3 sets during the afternoon/evening. We even had song requests sent in from across the village. A few got up to dance although there was some disappointment from some of the ladies when one of the guests declined to provide some Mankini action (Probably just as well!!). Thanks John and have a great adventure.
The band now have coordinated Converse footwear in a variety of colours as Scott finally purchased a Banana colour boot to go with Tom’s Strawberry and Jon’s raspberry (There not pink honest!!).
Off to Phoenixbury next Sunday for the music festival in Steeple Claydon. The event will have 20 bands playing from Fri to Sun outside the Phoenix pub in Queen Catherine Road to raise money for the MS Chiltern Centre in Aylesbury.
Sun 20th June 2010 Last week we played at the Pickled pig in Towcester on Friday, probably the most tiring venue to lug the gear to that we have experienced so far, but a good night had by all with big thanks to our friends from the Towcester dive club for their support. Saturday we were in Kidlington at the Black Bull, plenty turned out to watch our support act, which unfortunately turned out to be a let down, so after the football we did our best to entertain the busy pub until late into the evening.
Yesterday we had a two gig experience. The first was at the Marsh Gibbon annual fete where we did our first Inside-Out gig so it was good to be asked back again after a year and 45 gigs in between. It was a well attended event and thankfully the weather held out, although there was quite a cold breeze that was attracted to Tom especially!! We entertained the village folk and saw off stiff competition from the brass band, "Crufts" and tombola prize giving, Rock On!
We then made our way to Tadmarton for the evening session which turned out to be one of the best local festivals we have seen. A great set up as you will see from the photos and a friendly bunch who we are delighted enjoyed our performance, we look forward to appearing next year. It's a shame we couldn't capture more action photos, but as Nikki was otherwise engaged then this duty fell to Jon, who is only a drummer after all!!
We have a couple of new songs to learn which will give us a subtle change to our set lists, these have been prompted by suggestions and requests from fans and could nicely lead to further additions, watch this space...
